Supreme Court Deputy Prosecutor Appeals Against Indictment of HRADF Experts

A Supreme Court deputy prosecutor on Thursday lodged an appeal against an indictment targeting three board members of Greece’s privatization agency (HRADF) and six members of the Council of Experts. The indictment concerns their recommendations for the sale and leaseback of 28 state-owned properties in the period 2013-2014.
The six experts faced charges of breach of faith against the State and the three board members were accused of embezzlement. Prosecutor Haralambos Vourliotis said the indictment suffers from a “lack of full and detailed reasoning,” but also from “incorrect application of a criminal provision.”
The prosecution of the three European experts who worked as advisers to the Council of Experts was one of the main points of contention between the government and the country’s lenders, as was made clear at the Eurogroup in June.
Their lawyers recently also filed an appeal against their indictment to the Supreme Court prosecution.
