Crews Battling Wildfire in Northern Attica

Strong winds are fueling the flames of a forest fire that engulfed an area near the town of Kapandriti in northern Attica.
Dozens of firefighters with the aid of two planes and a helicopter are trying to prevent the flames approaching many scattered homes.
The fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon.
Regional officer Petros Philippou, expressed his optimism that the fire will be contained before nightfall.
He added however, that there is always a fear of the flames spreading beyond control due to the strong winds.
On Wednesday, according to data from the Fire Brigade, 22 fires broke out throughout Greece.
Last weekend, four houses were burned in the village of Kotrona and five more were damaged following the large fire in Mani, southern Peloponnese.
