At least 45 firefighters aided by volunteers and helicopters are battling the flames in a wooded area at Kalyvia, south of Athens.
The fire that started on Monday afternoon is aided by strong winds.
The fire brigade is trying to prevent the fire from reaching nearby dwellings.
Mayor of Saronida, Giorgos Sofronis, warned that the fire is heading towards the inhabited area of Saronida, where there are dozens of scattered houses in the forest.
