300 Dancers to Celebrate End of Epidaurus Festival with Morea Music

The Epidaurus Festival will end on August 19 with a great celebration of Morea music and dancing, featuring 300 dancers who will perform at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus.
Under the direction of Lambros Liavas, a great tribute to the folk music and dancing of Peloponnese – also known as Morea – will take place on Saturday with the participation of 300 folk musicians and dancers.
Trygaios, from Aristophanes’ “Peace”, an ancient play often presented at Epidaurus, makes his entry with the “national rhythm of the 7 / 8” of the Syrto-Kalamatiano dance. This will be the reference point of the show that will celebrate the rich and diverse dance tradition of Morea.
The orchestra of the Ancient Theater will perform in front of the only setting: an olive tree, representing the Tree of Life.
The songs and dances will be divided into three sections: Historical Memory, Life Cycle and Time Cycle, with reference to the summer festivals of the Assumption of Virgin Mary.
