Two Turkish nationals serving life sentences who escaped from prison on Thursday, were arrested on Monday near the Turkish border.
The two men aged 24 and 33; who were incarcerated in Cassandra prison, in Chalkidiki, northern Greece, had been sentenced to life imprisonment for migrant smuggling to Greece, and were working in the prison’s garden when they escaped, last Thursday.
Police officers from the Feres precinct near the Turkish border, found the two fugitives at around 4 am on Monday. It appears they were planning to sneak back into Turkey through an unguarded section of the land border.
