A mother stabbed her daughter to death and then committed suicide at the town of Markopoulo, east of Athens.
Police announced that the 51-year-old woman locked her husband in the basement of the house before killing her 17-year-old daughter.
When the 53-year-old husband managed to get out from the basement he came across the shocking spectacle of the two women lying in a pool of blood.
According to information, he heard his wife and daughter quarrelling upstairs. He said that his wife had psychological problems.
Police officers have cordoned off the house as they conduct investigations into the deaths.
A coroner’s report was expected to shed further light on the tragedy.
