Tsipras and Bulgarian PM Present Rail Link Plan to EU Commission

On Friday, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov presented the Greece-Bulgaria agreement for the Sea To Sea rail link to the European Commission, President Jean-Claude Juncker.
They both noted that it was an important project for the development of the wider region, connecting Thessaloniki, Kavala, Alexandroupolis, Bourgas, Varna and Rousse.
Another topic of the meeting was security of the Western Balkans and the European perspective of those countries.
At the meeting, the European Commission president agreed to support the initiative with funds from the “Juncker aid package.”
Finally, it was agreed that a meeting of technical teams should take place in the coming weeks to take the necessary steps.
Bulgaria is getting ready to assume the presidency of the Council of the EU. The country will encourage the discussion for a strong EU commitment to the region.
