The evacuation and the arrests were made after a swift operation in a building that was occupied since October 2016. The four men, two Greeks and two Germans, were taken to the prosecutor’s office on Monday afternoon facing several felony charges, including the violation of the law on possession and use of explosives.
According to police, large quantities of molotov cocktails, flare guns and several gas masks were found in the building. The four men face the following charges: Possession of explosives with the intent to cause bodily harm and destruction of property; firearm possession; destruction of property; disturbing the peace; denial of getting fingerprinted, and agitation of citizens to disobedience.
The incriminating objects found were sent to the Criminal Investigation Division for examination.
The police operation took place after the violent events on the night of November 17, in which lawyer Anastasia Tsoukala was seriously injured after a flare shot by anarchists was wedged on her knee.
