Hospital in Northwestern Greece Nominated for International Energy Award

The state hospital of Grevena city, in northwestern Greece, can boast its successful attitude towards energy-saving techniques and of sustainable energy measures at work which will positively affect every single human being in and outside that hospital.
Applying simple and practical energy-saving techniques, staff at the Grevena hospital managed to cut its spending on electricity, water and heating by 850,000 euros in the four years between 2012 and 2016, making it a contender for the worldwide “Energy Globe 2017” awards.
The hospital cut water consumption by 70%, heating costs by 50% and electricity consumption by 35% over the aforementioned four-year period, receiving the ‘Energy Globe Greece 2017’ national prize from Austrian Ambassador Andrea Ikic-Boehm and the health ministry.
The international process stops nowhere, as the particular public health institution project is part of 2,000 similar ones, globally nominated for the international ‘Energy Globe 2017’ award, the ceremony for which will take place on January 16, 2018 in Tehran, Iran.
