A total of 173 refugees and migrants arrived at the islands of Lesvos and Samos on the first day of the new year.
They were all coming from the Turkish coasts.
A Frontex vessel rescued 38 refugees and migrants that were on board a dinghy. They have now been transferred to reception and identification centres.
