Next month will see the Greek port of Piraeus linked by rail to Athens’ international airport, it was announced on Tuesday.
Piraeus, which is also undergoing major expansion to handle more cargo from the Far East, will be a terminus for the Proastiakos suburban rail line.
From Feb. 1 a direct journey from the port to Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport will take around one hour.
The move is expected to help boost numbers at the airport which earlier this month reported a record 58 million people in 2017.
In related news, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency reported on Tuesday that three new metro stations on the capital’s Line 3 — Agia Varvara, Platia Eleftherias (Korydallos) and Agios Nikolaos (Nikea) — will be up and running by end-June.
