Greek Foreign Minister Receives Death Threat

Greece’s foreign minister has received a death threat, a colleague told live television on Friday.
Nikos Toskas, Greece’s Citizens’ Protection Minister, revealed that his colleague Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias was the recipient of a threatening letter containing a note which read: “There are three bullets for you.”
In an extraordinary revelation made during a TV show on Friday morning Toskas said that the letter was received on Thursday.
He added that an investigation is under way to find the perpetrators. “Very soon they will be held accountable,” he vowed.
Kotzias is currently locked in negotiations with FYROM over the country’s name. He is being accused of selling out Greek history by apparently agreeing to accept a compromise name which will include the term ‘Macedonia’.
Commenting on the incident through Twitter, Kotzias accused certain TV stations and papers of defaming him for years so as to make him a target.
“They are annoyed that no one can hold me back,” he said, adding that they are the moral instigators of these threats.
“I await the condemnation of the Holy Synod and New Democracy,” he added.
Tempers are rising in Greece as a rally opposing the use of ‘Macedonia’ by FYROM is being organized for central Athens on Sunday. On the same day, leftist groups are planning counter-demonstrations.
