AEK Held by Dynamo Kiev in Athens (video)

Despite an impressive performance in the second half, AEK had to settle for an 1-1 draw against Dynamo Kiev and they would have to score in Ukraine next week in order to keep hopes alive of progressing to the next round of the Europa Cup.

The Athenian club missed a host of good chances after the brake to take a commanding lead in the tie before Swedish substitute Astrit Ajdarevic headed in Lazaros Christodoulopoulos cross ten minutes from time.

AEK had fallen behind to Viktor Tsygankov’s 19th-minute opener against the run of play following a poor mistake by defender Michalis Bakakis.

AEK were impressive overall, creating plenty of chances and dominating possession for long spells as they extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 23 matches.
