A total of 2,018 property auctions have been scheduled for the period up to Oct. 10 of which around 200 are expected to be carried out on Wednesday, according the Notary Association of Athens, Piraeus, Aegean and Dodecanese.
The Athens Macedonian News Agency (AMNA) reported on Wednesday that around 885 property auctions are expected to be held in March although a marked number of scheduled auctions are currently under suspension or procedures have not yet been completed.
Wednesday’s scheduled auctions include mostly buildings, homes, offices, warehouses, land lots and factories.
Many auctions have been switched to an online format to avoid confrontations with protesters and the emotive issue has continued to dog Greece’s government, overshadowing moves towards exiting the country’s bailout program.
The government has committed to 10,000 real estate auctions in 2018 and 40,000 auctions per year over the next three years, from 2019 to 2021.
