The world of Greek gastronomy celebrated the Χρυσοί Σκούφοι 2018, or Golden Chef Caps Awards, with the triumph of Ettore Botrini’s Etrusco.
This year, the cream of Greek restaurants carried a Corfiot flavor with Botrini’s Etrusco surpassing his performance in last year’s competition.
Etrusco received two Golden Chef Caps for his cuisine which explores his personal memories of the Ionian Islands — Corfu in particular — as well as Italy, embellishing amazing creations with inventive combinations and impeccable technique.
The second Greek restaurant was the Athenian Funky Gourmet by Nikos Roussos and Georgiana Hiliadakis.
In order to grant these awards, both the Athinorama and Alpha Guide’s tasting team traveled thousands of miles, tasting nearly 6,500 dishes in hundreds of restaurants and taverns across the country.
This year, the Golden Chef Cap was awarded to 24 restaurants from all over the country. Two received the award for the first time while five of the award-winning restaurants exclusively create Greek cuisine.
Out of the 24 Golden Chef Caps Awards, 15 belong to different hotels all over Greece.
The prize from the audience was awarded to Varoulko Seaside, from Lefteris Lazarou.
