Trikala Becomes First Greek City with 5G Technology

Trikala has become the first city in Greece to have 5G technology.
Greece’s General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post, the Trikala Municipality and e-trikala SA signed an agreement to introduce the cutting-edge technology.
The agreement concerns the gradual transformation of Trikala into a 5G-ready model city.
This will be done with a study and the implementation of a pilot project for the free installation of a 5G pilot network. The solutions they will offer to citizens are called “Sustainable Urban Development Solutions” and concern smart parking, smart lighting, wireless internet access, data collection and analysis and solutions to serve individuals and businesses.
The pilot project is estimated to last approximately four months.
e-trikala says: “The aim of the municipality of Trikala is that this program will be an effective implementation that will bring together local government and the private sector, with benefits for the everyday life of citizens.
“Smart cities have an obligation to provide a comprehensive framework of services for citizens.”
