At least 16 migrants, including 7 children, are reported dead on Saturday after their boat carrying them from Turkey capsized off the Greek island of Agathonisi in eastern Aegean.
Initially, rescue boats from the European border agency FRONTEX and the Greek coast guard recovered the bodies of four children, one man and one woman.
Later, 10 more bodies were recovered.
Three people — two women and a man — managed to reach the coast and alert authorities to the boat sinking.
The three told authorities they had been in a wooden boat carrying an estimated 21 people which sank, for reasons that were not immediately clear.
A huge search and rescue operation is ongoing.
