Student Parade Commemorates Greece's War of Independence

The student parade in Athens on Saturday, the eve of March 25th, opened the two-day commemoration celebrations for Greece’s War of Independence.
As it is customary, the General High School of Kalavryta led the parade, with the students wearing traditional costumes and carrying the banner of the Revolution of 1821.
Most Athens high schools, Greek scouts, the team of Special Olympics and several associations across Greece participated in the parade.
Before the parade, schools, high schools and associations laid wreaths at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, in front of the Greek Parliament.
Several State officials and the military leaders attended the parade, including Deputy Education Minister Dimitris Baxevanakis and Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis, and the Athens Municipality Band played the national anthem.
