A 52-year-old businessman is in a critical condition at an Athens hospital after he was shot twice in the back by robbers at his home in a northern Athenian suburb early on Monday.

Police say two robbers broke into the the man’s house at Kifisia just after 5 a.m., awoke him and threatened him with a gun.

When he resisted, he was shot twice in the back. His wife and two children, also in the house at the time of the attack, were unharmed.
