Athens Announces Reduced Transport Ahead of May Day Rallies

Disruption is expected in Athens tomorrow as labor activists stage rallies and demonstrations to mark May 1, International Workers’ Day.
A rally by two large union groups is expected at 11 a.m. local time (0800GMT) in central Athens preceded an hour earlier by another demonstration at Syntagma Square, home to the Greek parliament.
Public transport is on a reduced schedule, with the Metro lines 2 and 3 operating from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and no service to the airport. Metro line 1 will operate from 8 a.m.
According to AthensTransport.com, most transport will effectively be running on a Sunday schedule. Buses will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The suburban railway will have no service.
Protests are also likely to take place in other major Greek cities and towns.
