Two Police Officers Shot in Limassol, One in Serious Condition

Two police officers were injured in Limassol on Saturday night after their patrol car was shot several times, according to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).
The police officers were called to go to Ipsonas for a check on a parked car with three passengers who acted suspiciously.
When the two police officers arrived in the area, the passengers of the car started shooting at them. The two officers returned fire.
One of the officers was injured seriously and was taken for surgery. He is a suspect while his partner suffered only light injuries.
During the fire exchange, one of the assailants seems to have been injured as well. The suspects fled the scene and their car was found abandoned in Kato Polemidia.
Upon investigating the abandoned vehicle, police found it had been rented by a 33-year-old woman in Paphos. A warrant for the woman’s arrest has been issued.
According to CNA, police arrested a 35-year-old Bulgarian man who was walking towards Paphos. He is a suspect in the shooting against the police officers.
