Angry Residents Beat Suspected Burglar Senseless in Athens (video)


A suspected burglar was left unconscious on the street after angry residents tackled him in central Athens.
The man had been accused of trying to break into at least seven apartments.
In Monday’s incident, residents of an apartment block in the capital’s Koumoundourou neighborhood forced the suspect out of his car and beat him senseless before police arrived.
The man is in a stable condition at a local hospital.
According to data released by the Greek police in April, 708 cases of criminal break-ins at residential houses were recorded in 2017 in Attica alone, averaging 59 a month, or two per day.
There was more encouraging news regarding robberies which had been reduced by 453 to 4,271.
