State Investigates Petrol-Bomb Attack on Greek Riot Police (video)

A damaged police bus is towed away

Greek authorities are investigating a petrol-bomb attack on riot police in the northern city of Thessaloniki.
Saturday’s incident took place during a shift change outside the city’s Turkish consulate.
According to reports, barriers were thrown up when riot police crossed to an Aristotle University building on Aghios Dimitriou Street.
Traffic was cut off and over two dozen people came from the university building, hurling the incendiary devices at police.
No injuries were reported, and a damaged police bus had to be towed away.
In March, footage emerged of masked anarchists clashing with riot police in the northern city.
Greece’s second city had been hosting a gathering of anarchists from across the Balkans in response to an upsurge in far-right violence and property attacks.
Black-clad rioters were seen throwing petrol bombs, fireworks and other missiles at Greek police, who responded with tear gas.
