New Data Shows Greek Unemployment Down in March


Greece’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in March 2018 was 20.1 percent compared to 22.1 percent in March 2017 and the downward revised rate of 20.6 percent in February 2018, the Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Thursday.
The number of employed in March 2018 was 3,793,934 persons. The number of unemployed was 956,260 while the number of economically inactive was 3,236,664.
The number of employed persons increased by 74,890 compared to March 2017 (a 2.0 percent rate of increase) and by 47,085 persons compared to February 2018 (a 1.3 percent rate of increase).
The number of unemployed persons decreased by 101,576 persons compared with March 2017 (a 9.6 percent rate of decrease) and by 14,591 persons compared with February 2018 (a 1.5 percent rate of decrease).
The number of inactive persons, i.e., persons that neither work nor look for a job, decreased by 8,567 persons compared with March 2017 (a 0.3 percent rate of decrease) and by 35,972 persons compared with February 2018 (a 1.1 percent rate of decrease).
