Gang Attacks Hellenic American Union's Athens Office

A group of assailants vandalized the premises of the Hellenic American Union (HAU) in the Kolonaki district of central Athens on Tuesday.
According to reports, windows were broken by the group who were protesting in support of a convicted gunman seeking prison leave.

Dimitris Koufodinas — currently serving a number of life sentences for crimes including murder — had been seeking more prison leave after a pair of two-day releases earlier this year.  However, the previous prison leave had sparked anger from victims’ families.
There has been an ongoing spate of attacks by left-wing groups in support of the November 17 prisoner.
Last Monday, a group of about 15 people invaded the former ministry of commerce building in central Athens, vandalizing the premises, demanding Koufodinas receives another furlough.
