Police Arrest Self-Proclaimed Billionaire Who Pledged to Pay Off Greece's Debt

Greek police have arrested on Saturday fugitive self-proclaimed billionaire Artemis Sorras who has been convicted to eight years in prison for embezzlement.
Police tracked down Sorras to a house in the southern suburbs of Athens following a tip-off during their investigation.
Sorras did not put up any resistance to officers who conducted the raid and made the arrest, the Athens News Agency reports.
He is now being held and will be led before a public prosecutor.
In 2017 Sorras, who claimed he owned $600 billion and pledged to save Greece from the debt, was sentenced to eight years imprisonment without parole on felony charges for embezzlement.
A court in Patras, his hometown in Peloponnese, had sentenced him and his wife in absentia.
