7 Out of 10 Greeks Oppose 'Macedonia' Deal in New Poll

As Greece and FYROM signed on Sunday the landmark agreement towards resolving the long-standing dispute over the name of the former Yugoslav republic, a new poll suggests that almost 70 percent of Greeks oppose the deal.
According to the poll conducted by Marc on behalf of Sunday paper Proto Thema, 68.3 percent of respondents say they are against the agreement.
Almost half (49 percent) of governing Syriza voters say they also against the deal.
Overall, 73.2 percent oppose any deal that will include the use of the term Macedonia in the name of the neighboring country.
According to the same poll, opposition New Democracy has widened its lead over Syriza compared to three months ago.
The conservative opposition leads by a whopping 14.4 percentage points, when in March its lead was 10.3 points.
The poll also shows that Syriza’s support is collapsing in Macedonia where in some regions it scores single figures.
