NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has used a TV interview to talk about his birthplace in Athens, describing it as his sanctuary and the place he always wants to come back to.
The ‘Greek Freak’ also talks about the Zografou indoor arena, near the center of the Greek capital, where he first learned the secrets of basketball, calling it the place where he grew up.
He also spoke about Sofoklis Schortsianitis and how the Greek center offered to help himself and his brother with training.
And he explains that he knows pretty well what it means to stay “for eight hours under the sun, trying to sell one or two stuff, just in order to eat that day”.
Antetokounmpo was in Athens and last weekend where he watched his brother Thanasis lift the Greek basketball champions trophy from the stands of Athens’ Olympic Sports Hall on Sunday.
