Atromitos, Asteras Tripolis Fail to Advance to Europa League Next Stage

Despite being the favorites to advance to the next stage of Europa League, Atromitos and Asteras Tripolis were eliminated after unexpected draws with Dynamo Brest and Hibernian respectively.
Thursday night was not good for Greek football. Having lost 3-4 in Brest, Belarus, Atromitos needed to win by one goal to get to the next stage of the competition. The Athens team were better throughout the game and Georgios Manousos scored the much-needed goal in the 80th minute of the game.
However, the Belarusian club stunned the Peristeri stadium as goalie Nikola Mirkovic made a fatal mistake giving the opportunity to Pavel Nechaicik to score the draw goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
In Tripolis, Asteras also needed to win by one goal after losing in Scotland 2-3. However, it was Hibernian that scored first in the 43rd minute with John McGinn. The Greek club fought back and managed to draw in the 56th minute with Kosmas Tsilianidis.
After that the Greeks put the pressure on Hibernian but failed to score a winning goal, losing the chance to move further in the Europa League competition.
