Greek Envoy Summoned over 'Unfriendly Actions'

Russia on Monday summoned Greece’s ambassador in Moscow over Athens’ decision to expel two Russian diplomatic staff last month.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, Andreas Fryganas was informed of like-for-like measures to be taken against Greek interests following the row.
In a statement, Russia’s foreign ministry said it summoned Friganas “to hand over a note informing about tit-for-tat measures taken by the Russian side following Athens’ unfriendly actions against Russian diplomats and citizens this July”.
It is the second time the Greek envoy has been called in over the diplomatic spat. Later reports from Athens stated that Russian ambassador Andrey Maslov had been summoned by the Greek Foreign Ministry to protest Monday’s move in Moscow.
Last month, Greece expelled two Russian diplomatic staff and barred entry to two more Russian nationals over allegations that Russian money and sources were manipulating and backing anti-government protests in Greece over the ‘North Macedonia’ deal.
The prime minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia also made claims that “Greek businessmen” were using Russian funds to stir up opposition to the name deal on his side of the border.
