A seven-year-old girl has died in hospital after being found unconscious in a hotel pool on the Greek island of Rhodes where she was on vacation with her family.
Police have arrested the pool lifeguard on charges of negligence.
According to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, the unresponsive girl was carried to hospital where doctors tried to revive her. Despite their efforts, the child died a few hours later.
The Rhodes Deputy Prosecutor has filed charges against the pool’s male lifeguard after ordering an autopsy.
