Stefanos Tsitsipas Stuns Tennis World; Reaches Toronto Final


Greek tennis’ giant-killer Stefanos Tsitsipas has eliminated Kevin Anderson in the Canadian Open semi-finals to get a place in his first ATP Masters 1000 final.
One of the youngest players to reach such a final, Tsitsipas will turn 20 on Monday.
Playing against Anderson, he fought back from a set down to beat his South African opponent 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 7-6 (9-7).
“Four wins against Top 10 players. I would never imagine I would pull this off in a single tournament,” he told a news conference after his big win, thanking the crowd that pulled him through the tough moments.
Tsitsipas forged a path to Saturday’s semi final with Friday’s 3-6, 7-6 (11), 6-4 defeat of defending champion Alexander Zverev.
It was a third straight win over a Top 10 opponent for the 19-year-old Greek after he earlier beat Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic in the third round.
