Cost-Cutting Online Service Slashes Start-Up Times for Businesses in Greece

Dozens of businesses are using a new electronic ‘one-stop shop’ to slash the time it takes to get a new venture up and running in Greece.
The e-YMS system, which began in late July, now has at least 65 businesses using its electronic services, according to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
Firms from across a range of sectors have managed to cut paperwork and red tape, with one company getting its documents approved in under 20 minutes, AMNA reported. Nine out of ten applications have been approved in the same day.
The e-YMS, which is only available in English, operates through the website of the General Commercial Register (GEMI), at eyms.businessportal.gr.
Officials say it will cut the cost of establishing a business’ legal bone fides by up to 70 percent.
