The death of a young man in Athens who fell onto rocks from Filopappou Hill is being probed by Greek police.
Detectives are looking into the how the 25-year-old died. A report in Greek newspaper Kathimerini noted the man’s 23-year-old Portuguese girlfriend told police the fall happened after a mugging at knifepoint on Wednesday by three men.
However, the newspaper report states the woman was unable to account for key details of the incident as she did not witness the events leading up to the fall itself.
She told investigators the couple was confronted by three men on Wednesday night who pulled a knife and demanded money. One of the trio seized her bag while the other two confronted the male.
The young woman told officers she was watching the man with her bag going through its contents when she heard a noise behind her and saw her boyfriend fall.
The nationality of the three men has not been ascertained and the investigation continues.
