Plane Lands on Crete After Bomb Threat Hoax

An airplane that was flying from Egypt to Germany on Thursday was forced to land at Chania, Crete airport after a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax.
The Condor Airlines Boeing 757 was flying from Egypt’s Hurghada airport to Dusseldorf with 281 passengers on board before it diverted to land on Crete.
The pilot alerted air traffic control and said that a passenger found a note in the toilets saying that there is a bomb in the aircraft.
Two Greek air force F-16 fighter jets escorted the Boeing 757 to Chania airport and landed at an isolated section of the facility. All 281 passengers were evacuated safely.
Police bomb disposal units were dispatched to search the plane with a sniffer dog but no explosive device was found. Police also searched all passengers and their luggage.
Passengers spent the night in the terminal and continued the trip to their destination on Friday.
