Allegations of harassment at sea of Greek fishermen by Turkish boats and the country’s coast guard continued on Friday.
It follows reports earlier this week of shots being fired at Greek fishermen off the coast of Leros. Two Greek seamen, owners of fishing boats, spoke to Alpha television saying that the Turkish boats were inside Greece’s territorial waters on Sunday when their crews shot at them.
They also said that, since July, Turkish fishing boats have repeatedly intruded upon Greek waters to fish in the area. There have also been allegations of fishing nets being destroyed.
Now, fishermen from Limnos have told Greek television station SKAI that a Turkish patrol craft stopped them in international waters, demanding to see their documentation. The Greek authorities have said they will investigate the incidents.
