Western Greece Hit by 22,000 Ligthning Strikes in One Day

The Ionian Sea and Western Greece have been hit by 22,000 lightning strikes in a single day.
According to the Meteo.gr weather website, the ZEUS lightning detection system of the Athens National Observatory recorded the thunderbolts that started early on Thursday morning and continued throughout the day.
The map below shows the lightning strikes distribution until 5.30 p.m. on Thursday, as recorded by ZEUS, their number reaching 22,000.
