TrainOSE's New High-Speed Train Makes Athens-Thessaloniki Trip Under 3.5 Hours

There is much anticipation for next month’s Thessaloniki international trade fair where TrainOSE, the Italian-owned Greek rail operator, is expected to present a high-speed train that will change travel in Greece.
The train is nicknamed “Silver Arrow,” and will enable passengers to travel the Athens-Thessaloniki route in just 3 hours and 20 minutes with a maximum speed capability of up to 250 km/hour.
Built by Alstom Ferroviaria, the train is a Frecciargento ETR 485, and is reported to already be on its way from Italy to northern Greece.
The train will seat 480 and will go into service when the last piece of the Athens-Thessaloniki rail corridor is complete in 2019.
