Three Defendants Accused of Nikolas Moustakas' Murder Sent to Prison on Remand

As they await trial, the three men who allegedly pushed 25-year-old student Nikolas Moustakas off Athens’ Philopappou Hill during a tragic robbery gone wrong, have been jailed in prison on remand.
They have appeared before investigating magistrates and are facing charges of serial robbery, possession of illegal weapons and forming a gang.
The three defendants, two Pakistani nationals, aged 17 and 28, and a 25-year-old Iraqi citizen, were not represented by a lawyer when they appeared in front of the magistrates, and they denied the murder charge, insisting that they were only interested in robbing Moustakas.
“I went to stage a robbery,” the 17-year-old Pakistani allegedly told the magistrate, further insisting that the death of Moustakas was accidental, saying he slipped off the edge of the cliff.
Moustakas’ family has begun civil proceedings regarding his death against the three men.
