The fire fighters in the port of Piraeus are still struggling to completely extinguish a fire that started in the early hours of Wednesday local time, forcing the vessel El Venizelos to be evacuated.
Despite the fact that some of the trucks that were in the vessel were removed, many more are still inside, which is making the fire fighters’ job extremely difficult.

It is being said that large holes had to be opened from the outside, in order to gain access to parts of the vessel where the fire is still burning.
Although the authorities are not yet certain, according to some information received, the fire started due to a short-circuit of a truck inside the vessel.
All of the 875 passengers and 145 members of crew are well.
