Magnitude 5.1 Earthquake Hits Central Greece (video)

A strong earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit central Greece on Friday morning at 10:12 local time. There has been no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The focal point of the quake was near Lake Plastiras, west of the town of Karditsa at a depth of 9 kilometers. It caused landslides on rural roads.

The tremor was particularly felt in the towns of Karditsa, Trikala and Larissa.
It was also felt in Lamia, Ioannina, Corfu and other places of central and western Greece.
Seismology Professor Efthimios Lekkas said that “Half of the country shook.”
“Although the area where the tremor happened does not present severe seismicity, there may be damages on the old houses in the villages of Pindos which we know are not maintained and have suffered from wear and tear,” he added.
