Ankara Claims That Greece Is a ‘Safe Haven’ for Turkish Criminals

Turkey’s foreign minister, Mevlut Cavusoglou, has said that Greece is a “safe haven” for Turkish criminals.

His comments were published in the Greek newspaper Ta Nea on Saturday morning.

Cavusoglou further noted that he was deeply saddened by the Greek judicial system’s decisions regarding the eight Turkish servicemen who fled to Greece from Turkey following the failed coup in Turkey back in 2016.

“We are determined in our efforts to secure that the fugitive coup plotters will be extradited,” he said, adding that Ankara will not move from its position, insisting they be put on trial.
