Famous American Dance Theater to Play In Athens (video)

The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is a dance company that was founded in 1958 by choreographer and dancer, Alvin Ailey, and is currently based in New York.

It is made up of 32 dancers, led by artistic director Robert Battle and associate artistic director Masazumi Chaya.

The dance company has shaped the country’s contemporary dance scene and later this month it is set to hold several shows in Greece’s capital, Athens, at Athens Concert Hall.

The shows are part of the 60th anniversary of Alvin Ailey Dance Theater and will feature Matthew Rushing performing the iconic solo “I Wanna Be Ready” from Ailey’s classic work “Revelations.”
