Rare Sea Turtle Found Dead in Greece

A sea turtle that belongs to the Chelonia Mydas species, or the ‘Green turtle’ as it is known in Greek, was found dead in a maritime area near Mavrovouni beach in Peloponnese’s Mani Peninsula.
The Coastguard Headquarters of Gythio town briefed the responsible authority that took care of its burial, something that needs to be done by meeting specific sanitary measures.
This turtle belongs to a much rarer species than the famous Caretta-Caretta sea turtles whose population is, unfortunately, declining over the years.
