Greece’s Tsipras Meets with Commissioner for Migration Avramopoulos Ahead of EU Summit

Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met on Wednesday with the European Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos ahead of the informal EU Summit that will be held in Austria’s Salzburg.

In this context, the two men discussed issues related with the management of refugee flows in the coming period, the EU-Turkey Statement and coordination between Greek authorities handling migration and the European Commission.

It is mentioned that recently Greece promised to relocate 2,000 refugees from the island of Lesvos to the country’s mainland after the issue of inhumane living conditions inside Moria’s camp was raised by many Non Governmental Organizations and the local authorities of the region.
