FYROM's Zaev Retracts 'One Macedonia' Comment

The Prime Minister of F.Y.R.o.M., Zoran Zaev

In an interview with the MKD portal, the Prime Minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, said that ”there is no other Macedonia but ours.”
More specifically, Zaev said: ”The northern part of Greece is Greece, the western part of Bulgaria is Bulgaria. There is no other Macedonia but ours. There is no other in the world. And knowing the prospects and our future, we have to do this for our children, for the future generations. And this is a serious cause for us to unite.”
Zaev also added, ”we shouldn’t be divided. I would like to say to all of our compatriots who live in America and around our diaspora, that Macedonia fulfills the expected ambition of our fathers and our grandfathers,” and concluded saying that ”our country is recognized all over the world and no one will be able to deny our Macedonian identity.”
This interview provoked the reaction of Greece.
Greek diplomatic sources expressed their intense annoyance, forcing FYROM’s Prime Minister to change his statement.
Thus, in the a statement published by FYROM’s news agency MIA, Zaev seems to say that ”…a part of the geographical region of Macedonia is in Greece, a part is in Bulgaria and the northern part is in our country.”
