President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades said that the UN is waiting the report of the special envoy in Cyprus before it decides whether to embark on a new round of peace talks on the island.
Speaking at a press conference in New York, Anastasiades said that during his meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres he expressed his government’s determination to restart talks.
He added, however, that Guterres was non-committal, saying that he will decide on the next moves after he receives the report by UN’s special envoy on Cyprus, Jane Holl Lute.
Lute is expected to inform the UN Secretary-General about the results of her meetings with the two sides in Cyprus, the three guarantor powers – Greece, Turkey and the UK – and the EU.
Replying to a question by Greek Reporter, Anastasiades said that he will have discussions with Cypriot and Greek American entrepreneurs on possible investment opportunities in Cyprus during the Capital Link Invest in Cyprus Forum set to take place on Friday, September 28, at the Metropolitan Club in New York City..
