The 27-year-old man who was missing after his car was carried away by fast-flowing waters on Greece’s Evia after the island was severely hit by the Mediterranean cyclone Zorba, was found and rescued on Monday morning.
A new video of the dramatic moments when individuals along with local authorities tried to rescue the young man has emerged, depicting the adverse conditions under which the mission was held.
The 27-year-old man was found sound and safe by a local, while waiting for rescuers to arrive.
Speaking with Greece’s Alpha TV, the man described the dramatic moments when his car was carried away. ”I opened the windows, my girlfriend managed to hold a branch of a tree and I did the same. I then walked into the nearby woods, where I found a hut. I stayed there until someone could find me,” he said.
Meanwhile, the situation in the area of Mantoudi in Greece’s Evia is devastating and locals have been trying to save whatever remains from their belongings.
