Greek State Debt to Private Sector Exceeds €3 Bln

With €306 million added in August, Greek State debt to private companies and individuals reached €3,036 billion, from €2,73 billion at the end of July.
From the €3,036 billion, €1,974 billion are debts of government organizations and agencies to businesses doing work with the State, and €1,062 billion are overdue tax refunds to businesses and individuals.
The Greek government has committed to the country’s creditors to repay all debts to the private sector by the end of December.
According to a Kathimerini newspaper report, in the draft budget for 2019 there is no clear reference for full repayment of state debts to the private sector by end 2018. There is only an estimate that government bodies have to further reduce arrears by the end of 2018, after the €1 billion given by creditors in August and is earmarked for their debt repayment.
