The 'Hachico' of Crete Dies Waiting for its Owner (video)

The “Hachiko” of Crete, the loyal dog that waited for his owner, died eight years after his human friend in the village of Patelles.
For the last eight years, the dog walked every morning to a local supermarket in the village of Patelles, Crete waiting patiently for his owner, who died of a heart attack in the same shop eight years ago.
The loyal dog spent the whole day in the super market and in the evening it was returning to its home, where his best friend was no longer there.
As years passed, the old dog’s health was deteriorating. Yet, he was spending the whole day in the super market where he had last seen his owner. Neighbors who looked after him all those years, felt pity for the old dog and decided that euthanasia was a one-way street for the aging animal.
So, the neighbors collected a sum of money and took the old dog to the vet where he was put to sleep.
